There is a myriad of reasons as to why we chose bamboo to make our premium toilet paper. It is one of the fastest-growing, strongest and most useful plants on this marvellous planet but surprisingly, most of us actually don't know that it's a grass, like corn, rice of wheat for example. With the ability to grow more than a meter a day, bamboo is renewable, reaches maturity in 3-5 years or less; in sharp contrast, trees require a few decades (20 to 50 years) to recover from harvesting.
That's why we chose to make our toilet paper out of renewable and fast-growing FSC® bamboo from the Sichuan Province. Truly a wonder of nature, the humble grass literally requires no irrigation, pesticides or fertilizers, can thrive in depleted soil and helps to reduce soil erosion. When it is cut, the stem is left in the soil to sprout a new shoot and start the growing process again. No need to plant it again! Yay!
Thanks to its long fibers, its naturally hypoallergenic and anti-microbial pulp properties, bamboo is the perfect ally for your best wiping moments.
It's definitely a great sustainable alternative using freshly-cut trees for toilet paper. Boreal and tropical forests can now serve greater causes, like sequestering carbon dioxide, producing quality oxygen or offering natural habitats for biodiversity. Bamboo 1 - 0 Deforestation.
We don't use any animal-derived ingredients in our toilet paper. There's no animal testing either. Well, Nitch, our Australian Shepherd and Head of Canine Relations did a bit of modeling for our launch but it was fairly paid in treats and rewarded with long walks.
Our toilet paper is biodegradable, safe with most septic tanks and composting toilets. Our products have also been successfully tested for dissolution in water, disintegrate very easily and won't mess with your toilet system if used normally. Don't try to flush an entire roll in once, that's all we're asking!
Our premium and exxxtra long toilet paper rolls have 250 sheets each, more than x1.5 the average size of a traditional supermarket roll (150 sheets).
Let's break it down: 49,90€ for 48 FSC® bamboo toilet paper rolls bought as a one-time purchase. That's 1.03€ per roll.
Oh, one more thing! Our toilet paper helps saving trees and regenerating healthy forests. Every year, we donate 50% of our profits to WeForest with the common goal of planting 1 million trees by 2025. There’s no price for that, right? :)
We’re super happy to offer a 100% plastic-free packaging! That was an indispensable condition for us as this product needed to meet our personal ethics all along. We couldn’t imagine ourselves wrapping our toilet paper rolls with single-use plastic. Yuck!
The core tubes and all our shipping cartons are made from recycled cardboard. We also use soy ink to print on our packaging and we choose natural materials and ingredients wherever it's possible throughout the manufacturing process.
We made a lot of research at the start to avoid using single-use plastic wrappers and thankfully found a way to individually wrap them with a paper that could keep our toilet paper rolls moisture-free and hygienic. We also wanted to offer a pretty unique design to stand out from the boring... hum... traditional toilet paper market. All our toilet paper rolls are individually-wrapped in colourful wrappers to add a pop of colour to your bathroom. Your guests will love them, and it’s a great conversation starter!
Everything is recyclable, compostable and upcyclable. You can even use our core tube as seedling starters for your garden. Pretty cool, eh? Don’t forget to send us pictures of your craft arts!
China is, historically speaking, a great expert of bamboo. They have been using it for over 5,000 years and the country is home to rich and abundant bamboo resources (including the fastest-growing bamboo varieties), which isn't really the case of Europe due to climate conditions. It uses far less land than trees, produces less particulate matter and CO2 emissions per tonne of paper produced and helps us saving a heck of a lot of trees, water and energy in the process.
Our suppliers have been able to provide us with a large range of raw materials and many years of experience in the toilet paper market. We work very closely with them to ensure the highest standards of environmental sustainability, product quality and work ethics. We are also regularly on site to improve all the important aspects of our partnership.
The popularity of bamboo in everyday products is quickly growing due to its environmental sustainability and toilet paper is no exception. But, don’t worry, our bamboo isn't the same one pandas are feeding on, we source our bamboo from family farms so the varieties growing naturally in the wild are there for those remarkable and clumsy creatures to enjoy.
Say goodbye to all the nasties! There are no added inks, dyes or artificial scents in our toilet paper. For the whitening process, we use chlorine dioxide, an ECF derivative agent (elemental chlorine-free) that significantly reduces dioxins. Our chlorine, unlike traditional bleach, is chemically bound to oxygen and doesn’t bioaccumulate. We’re no experts but that means living things don’t absorb it so it’s a lot better for the environment.
We want our manufacturing process to go as smoothly as possible and we take our Corporate Social Responsibility very seriously. That’s why we frequently visit our production facilities to ensure that our collaborators respect all our ethical business standards (sustainability, sourcing, quality control). Our last visit was in June, 2019.
Our raw bamboo pulp supplier has been independently audited and certified under the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) accreditation model and have good ethical business practices. We wish we could provide a BSCI certification but since our supplier mostly work with the domestic conversion market for now, they don’t necessarily require it.
As a "profit-for-impact" company, impact is structuring an important part of our DNA and is at the heart of our business model. We are in the process of applying for a B-Corporation certification and we have already structured our business to meet its high standards. B-Corp companies are hybrid businesses that infuse impact in everything they are doing and always looking to make a difference in the world. Committing a significant part of your profits is a great way to shape the future of business!
Giving back is an essential part of our business model and this is what's driving us every single day. Our profit-for-impact project just got off the ground and we've been structuring our young company in the past months, paying for all the little things to become competitive and grow our impact. We truly believe in a better way of doing business and our consumer-driven philanthropy model could be the key.
Donating 50% of our profits to a charitable cause is definitely realistic but it's only possible with a great financial support from our best ambassadors. You.
We’ve just made our first donation in December 2019 and 2650 trees were planted in Luanshya, Zambia. Whoop whoop! The more people, the greater the impact!
Finding a like-minded NGO to partner with wasn't an easy task. We've studied the entire lists of charity organizations and finally got lucky. After extensive researches, we decided to team up with the amazing team at WeForest to make this project a reality.
WeForest was created in 2009 by Marie-Noëlle Keijzer and their core mission consists in regenerating healthy forests by intensively planting trees across the globe, carefully protecting biodiversity and empowering local communities to take action. All your contributions go directly to sustainable, community-owned planting projects in Zambia.
Our donations help assisting planting regeneration projects and empower 500 small-scale farmers in the Luanshya District, Zambia. WeForest provides them with training, tools and new skills to get a higher income. It also allows them to work closely with local private sector companies and diversify their economic activities. WeForest measures trees every year to calculate how high the biomass accumulation is and thus, the carbon.
That's our favourite question! It's very easy, you can start by gifting a toilet paper roll to your family, friends and colleagues. It’s usually a great conversation starter to raise awareness about deforestation. The more people join the adventure, the more money we can donate to plant trees.

We are family-owned social business based in Paris, France and in Schindellegi, Switzerland. Our warehouses are located in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France and in Dietikon, Switzerland. We ship via sea freight from China where our manufacturing facilities are set up. That allows us to directly ship to Le Havre, France where our goods are sent to Saint-Germain-en-Laye via road freight.
For Switzerland, we directly ship to Rotterdam and use trains to ship to Embracht. From Embracht to Dietikon, we use road freight to cover the last few kms to the warehouse. It takes a bit more time to use trains but it's definitely more energy efficient, causes little traffic congestion and produces little air pollution. We want you to know that we are very aware that shipping from China isn’t the ideal scenario but that’s the only way we found to start our toilet paper business without asking one of our European competitors to make our product. Throughout our development phase, we do our best to improve ourselves and cut our carbon emissions wherever it's possible. If you have any suggestions on how our model can be improved, please email us at email@example.com so we can discuss.
Everybody once experienced this uncomfortable situation where you run out of toilet paper. That's never going to happen again.
